I recorded my lowest and second and third lowest scores off the men’s tees in April and May of this year. The first was at Eagle Canyon where the course plays 6,350 metres ( 6,900 yards and scored a 79). The next time was at Kyalami a week later and the score was 78( Kyalami plays 6,700 metres which is over 7,000 yards) and then on the 1 May on the same course I scored 76 also over the same distance. The Pars 3’s play from 162 metres to 202 metres, Par 4,s from 347 metres( 370yards) to 460 metres ( 490 yards) and Par 5’s from 479 yards( 510 yards) to 570 metres ( 598 yards). My handicap is now 9.

30 December 2008

I played in the Pars Championship in Port St Lucie on the Ryder Course. Port St Lucie is in Florida, United States. I had a bad first day shooting 80 (2 holes cost me 5 shots). I practiced for two hours after day one to fix my putting and this helped as I shot a 74 on day to move from 19th place to 11th place after two days. I again practiced my bump and runs and putting and this again helped as I shot a 2 under 70 for day three which was the tournaments low round score. This comeback resulted in me finishing in 5th place just six shots off the winning score.

8-12 December 2008

I had the privilege of attending the IMG Academy in Bradenton Florida for a full week. The program covered all aspects of the game and spent every day on the course understanding and being taught course management. I learnt new routines for my practice from drivers through to my putting. My coaches were Lawrence, James and Adam. They were really good and relate very well with the younger players.

I managed only 4 holes before it got dark. The course measured 6,300 yards and I battled to convert metres to yards but still managed a 79 to be in fifth place. Day 2 was so cold we had to buy another jacket and beanie and hot rocks to keep warm. It was about -3 degrees Celsius and with the wind about -8. All players battled with the cold and I shot an 83 so thought I was out the running but the other player all shot worse scores and I ended up with a second place finish.

My mom was talking to the marshal when we made the mistake. My mom and I were both upset by this and I could not recover and shot a 69 against a 61 the first day.
